We recently got to go to Ashley Bakery while we were in Charleston for the weekend. We were able to meet Hayden and her mother, who owned and ran the bakery. They were so welcoming and nice and not to mention extremely talented. Jaime went through three massive books with photos of their previous work. By the end, Jaime had plastered the books with about 50 post-it notes marking her favorites.

We got to sample at least 8 different flavors of wedding cake… this was by far my favorite part of the day. I am hoping we can have an 8-tier cake because I liked them all! Thankfully Jaime and I agreed that the Hummingbird flavor was our top pick. It was very unique and was somewhere between a carrot cake and a yellow cake. It had pineapple and pecans and several other ingredients that made it stand out and hard to resist. My parents came with us and after we sampled all of the flavors my dad had no problem finishing off the platter. My dad and I share a big sweet tooth.

Before we left, the ladies took us for a tour of the bakery. They had the biggest mixer I had ever seen and I think Jaime really wanted it! Her eyes glazed over and I think she was daydreaming about how many cupcakes she could make in that kitchen!

I was excited when Hayden reminded me that I could get a groom’s cake for the rehearsal dinner. I am defiantly thinking something chocolate… I am going to have to get creative for this one!
